In the Tuesday, May 19 Mega Millions draw, one lucky player in Aurora won a $1 Million prize. The winning ticket was purchased at Aurora Shell, 2112 Ogden Avenue, in Aurora and matched five numbers to win.
The retailer will receive a bonus of $10,000, one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. The store owner, K. Belani, has been in business with the Lottery since 1999 and was excited to hear of this bonus payment.
“This is a rough time for everyone, I would like to share the bonus with my staff,” said Belani. It is the first Million dollar win for Aurora Shell.
More than 30,100 other prizes were won in the May 19 drawing. One lucky player in Downstate Brussels, Ill. took home a $20,000 prize by matching four numbers in the Mega Ball, and there were three $10,000 winners in the draw each from Oswego, Bolingbrook, and an online winner through the Illinois Lottery app/website.
