Members of 100+ Women Who Care of Will County held their big check presentation November 4 and donated $4,000 to Navarro Farm.
Sherri Navarro, co-founder, was presented the check by 100+ Women Who Care members Kathy DeSalvo and Joanne Tomczcuk.
“We are so grateful for the support of the 100+ Women Who Care of Will County organization providing us the donation toward building our greenhouse,” said Sherri Navarro. “The greenhouse will provide much needed space for the Winter months for our participants to begin growing our vegetables for Spring. It will also provide space for us to continue doing programs and social events for our individuals with special needs. Our mission is a place to grow and we thank all of you for your help to keep Navarro Farm growing.”
The Navarro family five-acre farm has the purpose to create a place for individuals with special needs to participate in an agricultural experience, with the hopes of increasing their social skills and independence. Navarro Farm provides transformative agriculture and animal adventures for children and young adults impacted with special needs, and their families. Through six key values we educate, inspire, and strive to create real life experiences that ultimately bring happiness to their lives.
The 100+ Women Who Care of Will County is designed to make an immediate and positive impact on the lives of its community, a group of women interested in supporting their communities by contributing to community charities.
Member Kathy DeSalvo said, “It was very inspiring to see the growth of Navarro Farm in just one year. They have already provided so many activities for those with disabilities, giving them a chance to interact and socialize while learning all about farming. It is, as Sheri said, a place to grow. We are happy that 100+ women who care has the ability to help them build their greenhouse and continue throughout the winter providing such wonderful and memorable experiences for these kids.”
At each of the quarterly meetings members nominate charities, three are chosen at random, and after a brief presentation, the members vote on which charity to support.
