For the 18th year, the Village of Montgomery was host to its annual 5K and 10K River Run October 2. One-hundred and sixty-one racers participated in this year’s run, with medals awarded to first and second place winners in each age category.
The race took place along the scenic Fox River. Proceeds from the race will be benefit for the Montgomery VFW Post 7452, Rotary Club of Montgomery, and Hesed House in Aurora.
Village president Matt Brolley ran in the 5K along with his son, who placed second in his age category. Brolley stated, “One of our greatest assets is our riverside area along the Fox River. This race route is unlike many others in the area, and participants get the chance to run the full length of Montgomery along the River from the border of Aurora into Oswego and back.”
Post-race Atrevete Confections was host to Pie Palooza near the finish line, featuring tastings of their 18-holiday pie offerings, kids’ activities and games with prizes, pumpkin- painting, and other seasonal fun. The top female and male in each race received bragging rights and a free pie from Atrevete.
