114th Aurora farmers market, Lions among 70 vendors

Aurora Lions Club was among 70 vendors at the 114th annual Aurora Farmers Market which opened Saturday morning, June 7, at Water Street Square in downtown Aurora.

Aurora Lions offered information and collected sneakers and eyeglasses for recycling.

The oldest in Illinois, the Aurora market will continue from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays through Oct. 4.

An Aurora west side market will run from July 2 through August 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Plaza shopping center, 1999 W. Galena Boulevard.

Founded in 1922, Aurora Lions Club (formerly Aurora Noon Lions Club) is celebrating its second century of community service. With the motto “We Serve,” Lions volunteers focus on supporting causes including hearing and vision impairment, hunger, the environment, diabetes and childhood cancer.

Open to men and women interested in community service, the club meets at noon on the first and third Thursdays at Paulie’s Pub, 444 N. Eola Rd. in Aurora. Prospective members are invited.
