Ed Roberts, a developer, proposes a three-story mixed use structure at the North Aurora Committee of the Whole meeting Monday. North Aurora staff members have been working with the Roberts, the developer of the MyPlace Hotel and the adjacent 40 townhome units within the Randall Crossing development, on a three-story mixed use concept building. The proposed building would be directly south of the MyPlace Hotel, adjacent to Ritter Street. According to the preliminary plan for Randall Crossing, the Lot 3 area is to include a single-user commercial space, presumably for a stand-alone restaurant, at an estimated 4,000 square feet. The proposed mixed-use concept plan includes 28 residential units consisting of one-bedroom 670 square feet and studio apartments, 475 square feet, and two ground-floor commercial spaces totaling 2,800 square feet. The plan includes patio space adjacent to eastern commercial space, to which the developer plans to attract a cafe-user. Roberts said the aim is to break ground in the Spring. Trustees expressed a mostly-positive reaction with some concerns about aesthetics and how it would fit in with nearby buildings. Jason Crane/The Voice
