The office of Illinois State representative Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, will continue to be a partner as a collection site for the seventh annual CUPS (Commitment to Uplift with Purpose and Service) Bra Drive. Building upon the success of previous years, donations for this significant cause will be accepted at her office at 1677 Montgomery Drive, #116 in Aurora.
“My office along with myself, take great pride in being able to be a partner with such a meaningful cause” Kifowit stated. “The donated items received through the CUPS Bra Drive have a profound impact on the lives of women who may not have the financial means to afford undergarments, which many might not realize is a struggle. This drive has provided a tremendous service and has positively impacted the lives of countless women over the years.”
Since its inception in 2017, the CUPS Bra Drive, initiated by Cynthia Gamboa-Morales of Aurora in memory of her late mother, has collected thousands of donated bras. The mission of CUPS is to preserve the dignity and self-respect of women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, sex trafficking, and refugee situations. Donations received during the drive are distributed to reputable organizations such as Hesed House, Mutual Ground, and Free the Girls.
To ensure the safety and hygiene of all participants, donors are kindly requested to enclose the garments in a bag and to attach a note or write the total number of bras donated on the donation bag.
Representative Kifowit encourages community members to join this cause and make a difference in the lives of women in need. By donating to the CUPS Bra Drive, individuals can help restore dignity and empower women who have faced challenging circumstances.
