• Knit and Crochet Group, Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon.
This informal group works on their own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. They love to watch each other’s projects develop. Participants should bring their own supplies. No registration required.
• Movie Night, Monday, April 9, 6:30 p.m. – 8:25 p.m..
Inspired by the true story of the unexpected friendship of Queen Victoria (Judi Dench) and Abdul Karim, a young Muslim clerk. Funny and charming. Rated PG-13. 2017.
• Managing College Costs, Tuesday, April 10, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..
College financing and strategies for saving money, tips on scholarships, and working on campus will be presented by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. No registration needed.
Kids events:
• Messy Munchkins, Monday, March 26, 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m., or, 6 p.m. – 6:45 p.m..
Little ones can squish and smush their way to the benefits of messy play. Kids can experience lots of sensory experiences will be available. This child-directed program allows the child to stay for as little as 10 minutes or the full 45 minutes. They should be dressed for fun. For children 0-5, with a grown-up. • Dog Day Afternoon, Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. – 2:45 p.m..
Kids can sit with a certified therapy dog and practice reading aloud for 15-minutes. For independent students entering grades K-8 only. Parents and younger siblings may wait in the Kids’ Library during the program. Call 630-552-2025 to register.
• Free Movie for Kids, Thursday, March 29, 1 p.m. – 2:40 p.m..
Free movie for kids. Big screen Ninjago adventure. Rated PG. All ages, children under six must be accompanied by an adult. Free refreshments served. No registration required. Attendance is limited to the first 80 persons.
• Independent Storytime for 3s, 4s, and 5s, Mondays: April 2, 9, 16, 23 10:30 a.m. – 11:10 a.m., or, 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m..
For independent 3-5 year-olds, without an adult. Features simple stories, music, movement activities, and a simple craft. Parents must remain in the Kids’ Library during storytime. Call 630-552-2025 to register.
• My Grown-Up Storytime, Mondays: April 2, 9, 16, 23, 6 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.; and Tuesdays: April 3, 10, 17, 24, 10:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m..
For three and four year-olds with their grown-ups, but no younger siblings are allowed. This transitional storytime is perfect for the little one who is not ready for independent storytime. Grown-ups will stay in the room and actively participate in the program with their child. Features simple stories, rhymes, movement activities, songs, and art experiences. • Independent Storytime for 4s and 5s, Tuesdays: April 3, 10, 17, 24 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m., or, 6:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m..
For independent four and five year-olds only, without an adult. Features longer stories, activities, music, and a craft. Parents must remain in the Kids’ Library during the program. Call 630-552-2025 to register.
