American citizenship classes in Plano

• The Friends of the Library Book Sale:
The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held in the meeting room during regular library hours Through August 31, closed Sundays. Beginning August 24 all items will be sold for $4 a bag. VHS tapes and audio cassettes will be free throughout the sale.

• Wednesday, Sept. 11, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.:
Those who want to become American citizens can find out about the citizenship application, eligibility to take the exam, and possible obstacles to obtaining citizenship. The presentation is in Spanish and English. A free 10-session citizenship class will be offered if there is interest.

• Better Than The Reaper, Monday, Sept. 16, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.:
Attendees can learn about Plano’s history as the birthplace of the Harvester when author Jeanne Valentine introduces her new book, “Better than the Reaper”. Available at the Library for purchase for $10, or to check out. All proceeds benefit the Library.

Kids events

• Read And Play Everyone, Monday, Sept. 9, 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 10, 10:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m.:
For ages two to six, with an adult. Drop in for fun with stories, songs, and free play. No registration is required.

• Pizza & Pages, Tuesday, Sept. 10, 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 12, 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.:
Everyone will read the same book before the meeting, talk about it, and have some pizza! Call 630-552-2025 to register.
