NAMI KDK (National Alliance On Mental Illness Kane-South, DeKalb & Kendall Counties) will have a 2019 Run for Mental Health Saturday, Oct. 5 in Downtown Batavia.
The run/walk along the beautiful Fox River Trail will start at the Peg Bond Community Center, 151 N. Island Avenue, Batavia, at 9 a.m.. Advanced registration is $35. All pre-registrants will receive a free racing shirt. Day-of registration will be available for $40. All walkers and runners are welcome. Top finishers will receive trophies and medals. • NAMI KDK Saturday Coffee will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at Ferrari Resource Group, 28379 Davis Parkway, #801 Clarus Center, Warrenville. The Topic will be “Empowering Employment: Discovering the Benefits of a Meaningful Work Experience:” presented by Giana Ferrari Ayers, M.A. CRC, LCPC, vocational counselor, consultant, and owner. Attendees can learn about: Accessing employment support services (public and private); building a resume and gaining recent work experience; practicing soft skills and follow through methods; and NAMI KDK’s mental health resources.
NAMI Kane-south, DeKalb & Kendall Counties (NAMI KDK), an affiliate of National Alliance on Mental Illness sponsors the free Saturday Coffee presentation. There will be light refreshments and attendees can learn what NAMI KDK offers in mental health education, advocacy and support for families and individuals living with mental health issues. The following Support groups will be held in October 2019
• Batavia Family Support Group meets First Saturday monthly at Batavia Public Library, 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.;
• Aurora Family Support Group will meet the third Thursday monthly from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Amita Mercy Medical Behavior Health Center, 1330 N. Lake Street Aurora;
• DeKalb Family Support Group will meet the fourth Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Salem Church, 1145 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore;
• NAMI Connection Recovery Group will meet the second Wednesday monthly from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at VNA Health Care, 400 N. Highland Avenue, Aurora;
• NAMI Connection Recover Group will meet the fourth Wednesday monthly at Wellness Center—Conference Room, 626 Bethany Roa, DeKalb;
• Friendship Circle will provides variety of recreational activities for adults living with mental health conditions and their families and will meet the second Tuesday monthly from noon to 1 p.m..
