The Annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at the Sugar Grove Public Library will be 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. Tickets are on sale at the Library for $5, and will be $6 on the day of the event. Pancakes, sausage, fruit cups, and juice will be served by the Friends of the Library when they work to raise funds for projects that benefit the community. Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes on that day for crafts, balloons, trick-or-treating, and Storytime with Pete the Cat at 10:30 a.m..
This year all funding proceeds will go to purchase advanced scanning technology hardware and software that will benefit patrons on many levels. Purchasing a ScanEz station will provide very simple scan, E-mail, and fax solutions with a variety of additional options. The device can translate documents into more than 20 different languages, and can convert text documents to audio files. This will benefit patrons that need to communicate in different languages, translate family documents, or patrons with vision difficulties that would like documents in an audio format. The device retouches older or damaged photographs, and can restore yellowing print such as old newspapers; a potential asset for historical preservation. This project was selected as it may benefit patrons in a high-tech variety of ways, and provide assistive technology for language and vision difficulties.
Sponsors are invited to participate, and the Library welcomes corporate giving and other contributions.
