The Aurora Fire Department responded to the Masonic Temple, 104 S. Lincoln Avenue, for a structure fire at 9:57 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7. At the time of the fire the immediate threat to firefighters and residents living in the immediate area was and still is the threat of collapse. To address this concern, temporary fencing has been installed around the perimeter of the collapse zone.
As explained during the media briefing Tuesday, Oct. 8, the demolition process of the structure will begin soon. Road closures in the immediate area will be enforced throughout the demolition process. Additional details will be release as soon as the process begins.
Furthermore, as a result of this incident, citizens have been concerned with potential health hazards. There is no health or safety concerns threatening the public, as the potential hazards are confined to the building.
