High school scholars from Kendall County’s Student Leadership Initiative Program visited the Aurora Mayor’s Office last week for a special meeting with mayor Richard C. Irvin. The students are enrolled in the immersive leadership program to learn more about their communities and to prepare for leadership.
The students had thought-provoking questions for mayor Irvin and deputy mayor Chuck Nelson and took interest in the redevelopment renaissance happening in downtown Aurora.
A former educator, mayor Irvin put his teaching hat back on and gave the students a lesson in municipal economic development by using current projects in downtown Aurora as examples. The students took a tour through downtown as part of their reality-based experience.
