Fans of Officer Chris Weaver and his popular community service messages are in for a special opportunity to see him in action when he acts as the master of ceremonies for the Aurora Public Library (APL) Foundation’s fundraising event, Magic in Motion, at the Richard and Gina Santori Public Library from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.

Officer Weaver’s hilarious lip-syncing and insightful community service messages have gone viral across the country in the past year to show the community that the members of the Aurora Police Department have a fun side and care about the residents they serve. Officer Weaver will bring that same enthusiasm to the Magic in Motion fundraising event when he helps raise funds for a new digital bookmobile for Aurora.

Attendees can enjoy a wine and craft beer tasting to feature wineries and breweries from the Aurora area, a live and silent auction, and musical entertainment by The Dog and Pony Show band. As special emcee, Officer Weaver will be bring his wit and creativity to the event, to make it great fun for all who attend.

In addition to Officer Weaver’s inclusion in the program, the Library will honor the Aurora Police Department with the Lifelong Learning Inspiration Award. The College of DuPage will be honored with the Thomas J. Weisner Educational Collaboration Award at this event.

The current bookmobile is more than 16 years old and has traveled more than 120,000 miles. Repairs are taking it off-road for days at a time, more than 40 days this year to interrupt a vital service. The bookmobile serves many roles within our Aurora community, including serving Aurora citizens in outlying areas, fulfilling enrichment reading for schools, making resources available for lower income families, and so much more.
