Encouraging residents to donate new toys for children in the community, State representative Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, will be host to another annual Marine “Toys for Tots” Toy drive at her District Office, 1677 Montgomery Road, Suite 116, in Aurora.
Kifowit has a collection bin for the Marine Toys for Tots at her full-time constituent office and asks residents to bring in new, unwrapped toys, to place in the bin for donation. Donations will be collected during normal office hours from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 13.
“Each year as we celebrate the holidays with our loved ones, we must also remember there are children who may not receive much,” said Kifowit. “A small toy could go a long way to bringing some holiday cheer to children and families in our community.”
The popular Toys for Tots program is run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve and distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program began in 1947 and the basic mission of the program is to collect new, unwrapped toys, and distribute those toys to children at Christmas. The goal is to help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s most vulnerable children and families.
“I believe the Christmas spirit is more powerful in the gifts and blessings we give to our friends, neighbors, and loved ones,” said Kifowit. “I encourage any residents who would like to spread holiday cheer throughout our community to help others, to stop by my office and donate a small gift for the Marine Toys for Tots. These small acts of kindness could go a long way.”
