Here is some NASCAR and other auto racing news.
The Nascar Daytona schedule is as follows:
• The Busch Clash at Daytona will be Saturday, Feb. 9., with practice at 11:30 a.m. followed by Daytona 500 practice.
• The Lucas Oil 200 ARCA (Automotive Racing Club of America) race will be 4:30 p.m., all on Fox Sports FS1.
• The ARCA race will be at 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 on Fox then at 2 p.m. will be the race day show and the Busch Clash Nascar at Daytona at 3 p.m.. The ARCA race is more likely to have drivers from the Midwest than the Daytona 500.
• Fox and or FS1 will air the Bluegreen Vacations Duels at Daytona qualifying dual races at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 to set positions for the Daytona 500 lineup Sunday, Feb. 16. It can be more exciting than the 500 and it is two separate races.
• The NASCAR Racing Experience 300 Xfinity Race will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15. The Daytona 500 will be Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2:30 p.m..
In other news:
• Tony Stewart was inducted in the Nascar Hall of Fame. Stewart is a promoter of a traveling World of Outlaws type of Sprint Cars that had races in Plymonth, Wis. and Wilmont, Wis. last year.
• Seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson announced the 2020 season will be his last full-time year to chase the Cup.
• John Andretti, longtime competitor in Nascar and Indy car, died after a long battle with colon cancer.
• The Performance Expo will be back this year after an absence last year. The Expo will be at Schaumburg Convention Center February 21-23. Friday, Feb. 21 is reserved for trade only and the open to public will be Saturday and Sunday only.
