The DuPage Juvenile Officers Association, the largest association of juvenile officers and youth workers in Illinois, announced Tuesday, Feb. 11 that it is will award up to two $1,000 college scholarships this year. Applicants must be residents of DuPage County planning to seek a career in law enforcement or youth services (this does not include education majors) upon graduation. They should attend a college or university by September and major in a field related to law enforcement or youth social services.
To apply for the scholarship, applicants should submit an application to the DuPage Juvenile Officers Association, Scholarships, 900 Ogden Avenue #185, Downers Grove, IL. 60515 postmarked no later than April 1. The application can be sent by E-mail to dweihofen@warrenville.il.us. The application can be obtained at DuPage County high schools and colleges or at the DJOA website, “www.dupagejuvenileofficers.com”. The application should include a letter of recommendation, a personal letter setting forth the applicant’s reasons for applying, why a plan to pursue a career working with juveniles and plans for the future along with a transcript of grades and a letter of acceptance from the college the applicant will be attending in the Fall.
