Aurora Mayor’s media briefing, Waubonsee Community College, Census 2020, School District 204

Mayor of Aurora, Richard Irvin, shows the gifts he received from representatives of Waubonsee Community College at his media briefing Tuesday, at the Aurora City Hall. Amanda Geist, executive director of Marketing and Communications, center, and Dr. Christine Sobek, president, right, participate in the media briefing. In an effort to promote higher education and inform Aurora students and parents, Dr. Sobek, joined mayor Irvin both to announce a new collaboration between the Aurora city government and Waubonsee Community College and to announce a downtown Aurora Campus open house Saturday, March 14, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.. The Aurora government has been collaborating with Waubonsee in mentoring and development of the Waubonsee new leadership development program for males. The program is a partnership in the mayor’s mentoring initiative, the Aurora Mentoring Alliance, in which the mayor gave an update regarding publicity and progress. Indian Prairie School District 204 superintendent of schools, Karen Sullivan gives thanks to Aurora mayor Richard Irvin and his administration at the mayor’s media briefing Tuesday, for the partnership to develop an intergovernment agreement with Indian Prairie School District 204. The agreement governs the use of Tax Increment Financing (TIF)incentives and economic development communications between the city government and District 204 for development activity in the Route 59 Corridor area. The City Council unanimously approved the agreement at a Special City Council Meeting following the Committee of the Whole meeting Tuesday. The agreement was approved by the District 204 Board of Education last week. Jason Crane/The Voice
