Joseph Anthony Fumagalli, my grandpa, was a sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War began November 1, 1955 and ended April 30, 1975.
My grandpa was graduated first in his basic training class. He finished his Marine Crops duty in four years and received a purple heart because he was shot both in his right leg and when he caught a bullet in his teeth when he was in Vietnam.
He was the commander of American Legion Post 675 in Oswego, July 2014 to June 2015.
He seldom talked about his experiences in Vietnam. He died February 13, 2017.
