At a special meeting of the Aurora City Council Tuesday, through the Zoom video conferencing platform, the City Council approved an ammendment to the liquor code ordinance that allows alcohol to be sold at kiosks in the Fox Valley Mall. The proposed code changes allow for the strolling concept where individuals 21 and older can self-service through a kiosk where someone who is Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) trained can observe individuals while they pour alcohol, usually craft beer or wine, and stroll around the inside of the mall. It is modeled after the Rosemont Outlet Mall which allows guests the option to bring their beverages with them throughout the shopping center and into select stores. Alderman Emmanuel Llamas of Ward 1 was the only no vote.
