The Illinois Department of Transportation closed the intersection of Harvey Road at U.S. Route 30 Monday, April 27 to install a cul-de-sac and permanently close traffic at the hazardous intersection near Oswego East High School. The intersection will be closed an estimated one month to two months.
Traffic on Route 30 instead will have access to Oswego East and adjacent homes and businesses from Treasure Drive, where a new traffic signal has been installed at Treasure Drive and Route 30. The signal includes equipment that senses and allows emergency vehicles through the intersection when emergency lights are enabled.
