The inductees included long-time coach John Bell and two outstanding athletes, Maxzine Rossler and Robin Reder. They were presented with plaques June 24 and will be honored at the College’s 2021 banquet. Induction in May was canceled due to COVID-19.

Bell, long-time teacher and head track coach at West Aurora High School, and Athletic Hall of Fame member, guided Waubonsee’s cross country program for 30 years starting in 1984. He led Waubonsee to 22 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) championships in cross country and 17 times was named the conference’s coach of the year. He coached men’s and women’s cross country teams to 12 Region IV championships. In 2000-2001 he received the inaugural ISCC Men’s Coach of the Year Award when he guided both the cross country team and tennis team to conference championships, region IV championships, and to 11th place and 20th place, respectively, in national tournaments.

Rossler, who was a key member of the Hinckley-Big Rock High School Class 1A girls State basketball tournament championship, became the all-time leading scorer in Waubonsee women’s soccer. She was named second team all-America in 2010 and both the Region IV and ISCC Player of the Year Award recipient.

Reder, a stellar three-sport athlete at East Aurora High School and a member of the school’s Hall of Fame, led Waubonsee to the Skyway basketball championship, was all-conference in baseball as an infielder, and led the Chiefs to their first baseball conference championship. He stole 27 bases and batted better than .300 to lead the baseball team to an undefeated conference championship. He played basketball and baseball at Aurora College for two seasons, including MVP in basketball his junior season.
