Wine-ing down with Teachers

The Aurora Public Library District (APLD) will be host to a virtual Wine-Down event at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9 on Zoom for its librarians to sit down, relax, and speak with Aurora teachers and educators. During this time, librarians from APLD hope to share information, resources and tools with teachers, and find out what is needed in virtual classrooms to help students succeed.

“With this unique school year starting on virtual platforms, it is important for the library to support teachers and students in every way possible,” said Krista Danis, events and programs coordinator for APLD. Carolina Gutierrez, school services coordinator for APLD, added that “teachers can expect to see an example of how teacher loans work, bookmobile information, and a step-by-step tutorial of navigating our library’s website to find resources they can use.” Educators and teachers can learn more about APLD’s resources at www.aurorapubliclibrary.org/educators-3710.

From providing materials to showing all the information available, librarians and the libraries they work for often carry vastly more resources than one would expect. “We are always able and willing to support teachers in what they need, but right now we don’t really know what they need. We want to ask them how else we can help since this is not a normal beginning to the school year,” Carolina added.

If you are an educator in the city of Aurora and are looking for new, exciting, and engaging ways to help teach your students this year, you can join Carolina and other librarians from APLD September 9 by registering at www.aurorapubliclibrary.org/event/4554800. Parents teaching their children at home for the first time can benefit from APLD’s e-learning resources, available at www.aurorapubliclibrary.org/e-learning-resources-6390. So, grab your glasses and bring your drinks, it is time to wine-down.
