The Aurora Police Department is working in conjunction with the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall again this year to plan for this year’s Black Friday shopping event.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall’s Black Friday event will kick-off this year on Friday morning, November 27th, instead of Thursday night. The Chicago Premium Outlet Mall will be adhering to Tier 3 COVID-19 mitigation guidelines in place throughout the State of Illinois. Parking and access to the mall will be limited to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

To help keep shoppers coming and going, APD’s Special Events Unit has been spending the past few months planning in conjunction with the Chicago Premium Outlets to make sure traffic stays moving and everyone stays safe. Due to the expected heavy traffic, multiple detours and road closures will be put into effect starting at 4 a.m. on Friday. Officers, volunteers from Aurora’s Emergency Management Agency and parking attendants will be posted throughout the detours to help direct customers around the mall.

The Chicago Premium Outlets will open at 6:00 a.m. for customers and stay open until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27th. On Saturday, November 28th, the mall will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Make sure to plan ahead and find the best route by going to www.aurora-il.org/BlackFriday to see interactive maps and find the best way to head to the mall.

The Aurora Police Department anticipates traffic delays in the area during these times and there will be some road closures to help with the flow of traffic in and out of the area. The following closures will go into effect from on Friday, November 27th from 4:00 a.m. until approximately 7:00 p.m.:

Corporate Blvd. will be closed between Farnsworth Ave. and Church Rd.

(Businesses on Corporate Blvd. may be accessed by employees/visitors/deliveries from Church Rd.)

Bilter Rd. will be closed between Church Ave. and Farnsworth Ave.

Temporary closures may occur for the following roadways:

* Southbound traffic on Farnsworth Ave. between Butterfield Rd. (IL-56) and Bilter Rd.

* Eastbound traffic on Bilter Rd. from Farnsworth Ave.

Traffic conditions will be monitored on Saturday and temporary road closures may be put into place to help with traffic flow.

There will be no impact to people trying to enter the COVID-19 IDPH Community Based Testing Site, located on Farnsworth Ave., directly across from the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall on Farnsworth Ave. Cars leaving the testing site will be required to go southbound on Farnsworth.

The latest information regarding closures will be posted in real-time on the Aurora Police Department’s Twitter: @AuroraPoliceIL and on the Aurora Alert Notification System.
