Kaitlynn DeRoos, of Yorkville, is 11 years old and from the time she was four, she spent her time wondering what she can do to make others feel loved and special. For this Valentine’s Day, she wanted to fill out and deliver as many Valentines as she could to nursing homes and facilities that assist the disabled. She used all of her allowance and asked the assistance of friends, family, and neighbors.

Once Kaitlynn put her pen down and counted all of the Valentines, a grand total of 1,250 cards had been lovingly signed. She and her family carefully packaged them, called facilities from northern, eastern, and western Illinois and delivered them in hopes of bringing smiles to all of those who may be lonely on yet another holiday due to COVID-19.

Kaitlynn wants to remind the world that just because we’re still on quarantine, there are many ways to help bring smiles to others, and if we spend our time helping others then no one will ever feel lonely. She is already planning to double or triple her Hearts from Heaven mission for next Valentine’s Day. For the Summer she is planning a lemonade stand to raise money for less fortunate children in The Appalachian Mountains.
