Jason Buckley of Montgomery, West Aurora High School athletic director, has been named a certified master athletic director.

The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) awarded the designation that recognizes exemplary knowledge, contributions, and professional development, in interscholastic athletic administration.

The voluntary certification process includes a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s educational background, experience, NIAAA leadership courses and professional contributions and culminates with a written or oral presentation project.

A Naperville native, Buckley has served as West Aurora athletic director since 2012. The Aurora University graduate has implemented the Blackhawk leadership team, worked to make student-athletes triple-impact competitors, and spearheaded installation of a new scoreboard at Ken Zimmerman Field in 2019. Additionally, West has hosted several workshops for coaches and parents to identify their roles in the athletic experience.

Prior to joining West Aurora, Buckley was a social studies teacher, head boys basketball coach, head golf coach, and assistant athletic director, at Oswego East High School.
