Craft To Go at Yorkville Public Library

The Yorkville Public Library Youth Service Department will have many events in March. All events will take place at the Library, 902 Game Farm Road. For more information, or to register, call 630-553-4354 or visit www.yorkville.lib.il.us.

Yorkville Public Library continues to offer regular operating hours. The Library is open Monday–Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Face coverings must be worn in the building. Curbside service is available.

• Every Monday in March at Yorkville Public Library, Crafts To Go!

Stop at the Library for a craft kit. These kits are available each Monday in the Library foyer while supplies last. Weekly themes for craft kits include: St. Patrick’s Day. Limit one kit per child.

• Every Friday on YPL Facebook, Drop In Story Time (virtual).

Each Friday morning watch Ms Jennette read a story on the Yorkville Public Library Facebook page.

• Monday, March 1 through Thursday, March 4 by appointment at YPL.

Help us liven up the Library with window art. Due to restrictions, please contact the Youth Service Department for an appointment time at 630-553-4354 ext 108. Space is limited.

• YA Teen Book Club at the Yorkville Public Library, Friday, March 5, 3 p.m..

Leah English will lead the group in a discussion about this month’s book, “We are the Ants” by Shaun David Hutchinson. The book is at the Youth Service desk for pick up prior to March 5. • Virtual 3-D Printing

Leah English provides a step by step tutorial on how to use Tinkercad. Tinkercad is an easy to use 3D CAD design tool, where you can create an object that we can print on our 3D printer. Check out the library’s website to link to the YPL YouTube channel, follow the steps to create your own 3D printed piece. Prints cost $0.20 per gram.

• TAG- TEEN ADVISORY GROUP at the Yorkville Public Library, Tuesday, March 9 and 30, 2:45 p.m..

This year our TAG members are focusing on “BE THE CHANGE” by giving back to the community. Teens in grades eighth through 12 get together to share ideas about the teen area in the library and how to provide for Yorkville. They help create and plan programs. This group also has opportunities to earn volunteer hours. Great chance to meet new people and have some fun and laughs.* Face masks and social distancing are required.

• Brain Teaser Digital Escape Room, Monday, March 8.

Go to the YPL website calendar and click on the link to begin. Test your ability to solve brain teasers with this digital escape room that is perfect for beginners.

• Family BINGO on Zoom, Wednesday, March 10, 6 p.m..

If you are interested in joining us to play BINGO on Zoom, please send to Jennette at jweiss@yorkville.lib.il.us and you will receive a Zoom invitation. Each player will need 4 Bingo cards. See you soon!

• Spanish Story Time on Facebook, Wednesday March 10 and 24, 10 a.m..

• STEM at Home, Thursday, March 11 and 25.

Follow along with Ms Jennette to create projects using common household items. Check out YPL Facebook page for the instructional video.

• Book Club, first and second grade, Thursday, March 11 and 18, 4:30 p.m. at the Yorkville Public Library.

In this two session book club, we will read the book, “Ugly Cat and Pablo” by Isabel Quintero. Please register for both days on the YPL website. *Face masks and social distancing are required.

• Drop In Story Time (at YPL), Friday, March 12 and 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Yorkville Public Library.

Join us at YPL for Drop In Story Time with Ms Jennette. This story time will be held in our large meeting room, the Michelle Pfister Room. Face masks and social distancing are required.

• Book Club, third and fifth grade, Tuesday, March 16 and 30, 4:30 p.m. at the Yorkville Public Library.

In this two session book club, the participants will receive the book on March 16. Then it will be discussed at the following session on March 30. Please register for both days on the YPL website. Face masks and social distancing are required.

• Spy Apprentice Adventure Digital Escape Room, Monday, March 22, YPL website.

Go to the YPL website calendar and click on the link to begin. Looking for a challenge!! Try it without hints….Good Luck! Travel the world as a Spy Apprentice, solving clues and mysteries. As the clues are a bit difficult, this escape room would be more appropriate for teens or adults looking for tricky problems to work on.

• 4-H STEM Challenge Mars Base Camp (ages five to seven), Tuesday, March 23, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Yorkville Public Library

Your child will experience a hands-on activity that simulates landing on Mars and surveying the land. This activity allows children to develop quantitative, observational, and critical thinking skills while they have fun making discoveries and designing solutions that are out of this world! Space is limited. Register on the YPL website at Calendar of Events. Masks and social distancing are required.

• 4-H STEM Challenge Mars Base Camp (ages eight and older), Tuesday, March 23, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Yorkville Public Library

Your child will experience a hands-on activity that simulates landing on Mars and surveying the land, and they will learn about agriculture on Mars through an interactive game. Space is limited. Register on the YPL website at Calendar of Events. Masks and social distancing are required.
