Aurora Public Art has unveiled its presence on the national phone app, Otocast. The app has narrated audio guides for exploring Public Art throughout Downtown Aurora, providing locations, directions, photographs, background information, and a brief audio clip about each piece of outdoor art. Many of the audio clips are interviews with the artists who created the installations.
Twenty-four sites are currently listed in the app, including wall murals, utility box murals, and sculptures. Several more sites will be added after the 2021 mural season is complete, as the area anticipates the installation of 10 new murals this Summer and Fall.
“This free app puts a great deal of information at your fingertips,” stated Aurora Public Art director Jennifer Byrne Evans. “Hearing about the murals and sculptures from the actual artists who created them provides context and background on their themes and processes.”
The app can be expanded in the near future to list additional points of interest, including restaurants and shops. Users can enjoy all that downtown Aurora has to offer as they engage with public art sites throughout the area.
Users can download the free app from the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
