Poem: Doomsday Query?

We have been given intellect, but with it, too, free will.
Which means we are not locked in, isolated, mainly still.
If we decide to go where physically we dare not,
We build the ways and means to do that, freedom sought.

With all due reverence to this, we beg to question why?
And there are many many quasi-theories which apply.
Will we, in fact, destroy a livable environment?;
And face demise because we lack forward intent?

But then, what if this human race is just a prolonged test?
That when the test results are in, we vanish, shame possessed?
For after all, we don’t fit in a natural domain.
So it may be we’re being tested whether to remain.

We have more than a few religions all propound for peace;
But there are just as many peace is thought of least.
So if it comes about the word of God is being ignored,
It may cause God to pull the plug, human existence floored
