One step at a time guides society, including The Venue

Share this article:

Well past one year of COVID-19 restrictions and limitations, society’s reach is opening up somewhat, only natural given the confidence in vaccines this year, and the desire to move about more freely.

The range of believers in restrictions to the non-believers remains steady, and convictions often can be tested. The key fact is good health should not be taken for granted.

Personal choices remain in doubt for those who see little value in wearing masks, however, wearing masks saves lives.

Those who dispute the necessity to wear masks may be in majority in some places, however, the general consensus remains with the requirements to wear masks, or, be denied entrance to private businesses.

The deniers evidently have not had the experience of suffering COVID-19, or, have not lost loved persons because of the virus.

Individual rights on occasion must be suppressed in the interest of good health. It is okay to do so.

There are important items to be shared and we can offer information one item at a time:

• The Venue in Aurora has issued plans to reopen for outdoor shows in Mundy Park on South Broadway June 4. The recent announcement does not have a lineup however, is working on it. Livestream shows will continue in early May Sundays and Wednesdays.

• Repeat from last week: We can make a difference. We can recycle bottles.

The site of everybottleback.org will accept bottles which will be ground up and create new bottles. We can make a difference. It is in the spirit of Earth Day, Thursday, April 22. Arbor Day, the final Friday of April, will be April 30 this year.

• The Aurora Sunrise Rotary will sponsor its annual Downtown Aurora Scavenger Hunt May 14, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with headquarters at Ballydoyle, 28 W. New York Street. Signing up early with a team of four is a requirement at www.rotaryaurora.org .

• The Just Food Initiative, based in Batavia, has been given a setback, however, remains undaunted to open a Just Foods Farmers’ Market in southeast Aurora. The Reader’s Commentary in the April 8 issue of The Voice requested assistance from individuals with health foods. The Just Food Initiative will open the farmers market in junction with St. Olaf Church in Montgomery. A lack of funds has delayed progress.

Clear and Concise, Week 16 Year 2:

Clearly and concisely because we seek to share space with many other worthy items and photos in this week’s edition of The Voice: Host and not hosting; regardless and not irregardless; nouns should be used as nouns and not as verbs.
