Hobbs Building in downtown Aurora, proposed renovation

The 128-year-old Hobbs Building in downtown Aurora, empty for more than 40 years, resumes an overhaul that will be converted to first-floor retail and restaurant and 31 residential apartments on floors two through four. Above is an artist’s rendering of the Romanesque Revival building that features an onion dome. Below, the inside endures a smashing start of items to be removed in a construction commencement ceremony.
