Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora, the club that fights diabetes, recently installed officers and directors for 2021-2022.
Presiding at an installation ceremony Thursday, June 17, at Oak Street Restaurant in North Aurora was Vic Smith, Cosmopolitan International Mid-States Federation governor. Smith, a Newark resident, is an Aurora Cosmo.
Installed were Russ George, Aurora, president; Paul Smith, Aurora, vice president; Jackie Klaisner, Aurora, treasurer; Donna Carter, Big Rock, secretary; Jimmy Schmidt, Aurora, sergeant-at-arms; and board members LaVonne Hawking, Aurora; Pat Jones, North Aurora; Ann McBride, Aurora; Matt McCain, North Aurora; and Kenlyn Nash-Demeter, Sugar Grove.
President George announced plans are under way for “A Night at the Barn,” Aurora Cosmos first 2021 fundraiser. The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the barn at Blackberry Farm, 100 S. Barnes Road in Aurora.
The public is invited. Parking is free.
The event will feature hors d’oeuvres, including pulled-chicken and pulled-pork sliders, and a cash bar, all provided by Spartan House in Aurora. Other highlights will be music provided by “Sling Blade”, a classic rock and blues band; free door prize drawings, a wine pull, 50/50 cash drawing, 35 basket raffles (including Cub-Sox crosstown classic tickets and jerseys), $100 in lottery tickets; a day-long fishing trip; and a golf packages.
