State representative Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, will be host to the annual Community Recycle and Shred Day from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, July 24 at the Waterford Plaza Parking Lot, 1677 Montgomery Road in Aurora.

“I encourage all residents who are looking to shred documents, recycle old electronics, donate books or cell phones, safely dispose of unneeded prescription and over-the-counter medication or donate eyeglasses and hearing aids to stop by our event,” said Kifowit. “We will be ready and willing to help anyone out who is finishing up some spring cleaning.”

Document shredding will be provided for personal files, but limited to a maximum of two boxes per person. Cell phones and eye glasses will be collected to benefit Mutual Ground’s domestic violence and sexual assault services. Medications will be collected by Fox Metro for disposal (with the exception of controlled substances). Lightly used books will be collected.

Electronics eligible for recycling include computer towers, phone lines, fax machines, small kitchen appliances, DVD players, video game consoles, and broken cell phones. Television screens and computer monitors will not be accepted.

“KCT Credit Union is proud to partner with State Representative Stephanie Kifowit in bringing this vital recycling and document shredding service to the community,” said Mike Lee, President of KTC Credit Union.

For more information about the event, please contact Rep. Kifowit’s district office at 630-585-1308 or E-mail Stephanie.Kifowit@att.net.
