I have never written for a newspaper, so this may seem sloppy, but it is my take on world events:
On TikTok, I follow this woman who talks about African-American rights. There have been dozens of videos about how cruel the police are towards the black community, which a lot of them have been noticed by me and thousands of other TikTok users. For example, one innocent man had been shot by police officers 33 times for only holding a lighter and not planning to cause any harm, meanwhile, another innocent had been shot for only holding a knife with no bad intentions. He wasn’t even close enough to harming anyone, but was killed anyway, only because he was black.
I have my own opinion on this situation. Apparently, the police are supposed to keep everyone safe, but how are we supposed to feel safe at all when this stuff happens? I ask myself that question often. There are protests in some other states like California, so I am glad that people are standing up for what is right, but this feels like Deja Vu.
Back in 2020, there were Black Lives Matter protests and even riots because of how terrible the police were becoming, but it all eventually just stopped, even after I kept supporting the black community. It honestly angers me to see that police did not learn their lesson and they are still mostly getting away with murder. I will find any possible ways to help the community, and so should you. There must be more said about it. You can tell your friends about this issue, post a video about it, support black creators across the internet, or even protest with your friends. It needs to change.
• On another note, the war between Ukraine and Russia is still happening. I feel like Russia is going to lose this war, mostly because of all the support towards Ukraine. But I really hope that this war will end soon, at least before 2026. The best thing we can do is support Ukraine and wait for this all to end.
• The same for COVID. We all have to work together for this virus to fully end. I just wish everyone luck.
• On good news, I heard that scientists have developed an invisibility cloak for cancer drugs.
That’s all I have to say for now. Thank you for reading to my news input. I’m Jack Westphal, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the newspaper!
