• We share a special good-bye to longtime and recently-retired West Aurora High School boys basketball head coach, Gordon Kerkman. Soon, he and his wife, Marilyn, will move to the state of Oregon. Good wishes can be accomplished at a special event 7 p.m. Monday, May 23 at West Aurora, lower cafeteria. Admission is free and donations will be accepted to Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame Museum, sponsor of the event. Speakers will include former head basketball coaches, Jim Roberts, Batavia, and Jim Harrington, Elgin, and longtime West Aurora radio and television announcer Neal Ormond. Enter the school building at Door 22 on the south side of the building. Bruce Firchau, a former head basketball coach is representing the IBCA Basketball Museum.
