The Windmill City Festival carnival is coming back to Batavia’s Riverwalk, July 8-10!
The carnival fun on Houston Street, along with tasty food and beverages, live musical entertainment, several competitions, games, and activities for all ages.
What began as a sidewalk sale in 1956 known as Boo Boo Days, has since flourished into a community-wide celebration. Organized by the Batavia Park District and the City of Batavia, Windmill City Festival returns to downtown Batavia July 8-10. The festival will be open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, July 8, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 9, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 10.
Back to rock Batavia are some of Chicago’s favorite bands: Radio Gaga, 7th Heaven, Lounge Puppets, and Back Country Roads, just to name a few. Whether they are playing rock ‘n’ roll, pop, country, or other rhythmic sounds, these and other crowd-pleasing bands stir up outstanding shows! Available will be to eat, drink, and dance, under the stars! Visit windmillcityfest.org for the full musical lineup.
Many traditions are returning to Windmill City Festival in addition to the great music and popular carnival rides. You’ll find activities for everyone, from babies to pets!
Participants can tee off across Depot Pond in the Golf Challenge, and compete for prizes for a hole-in-one, or enter a pet in a charming pet competition, where furry and not-so-furry pets can compete in five categories: Best Kisser, Best Trick, Highest Jump, Best Costume, and Most Unusual.
The Batavia Mother’s Club Foundation will be host to an adorable Diaper Derby, where babies participate in a crawling race. There’s a Community Bike Wash. Families, bring bicycles and Park District staff members and members of the Batavia Bicycle Commission will help wash wheels and decorate them.
Participants can share artistic flair at the Sidewalk Chalk Drawing Contest. Saturday, July 9 is known as “Unplug Illinois Day,” where residents across Illinois are encouraged to play outside and enjoy activities at their local park districts. It is possible to draw what participants love about Batavia. Artists of all ages can compete to win People’s Choice for “Most Uplifting” and “Best of Batavia” categories.
