We depend on politics to keep the country running, avoid built-in conflicts within differences of opinions, and provide an avenue for discussion.
Included, we are subject to negativity. It is too easy for candidates to be negative, see the glass half-filled, and, thereby offer a sense they have solutions. On occasion it works, especially to those voters who have similar mindsets of negativity.
We should be positive and function with a sense of gratitude. It works better than negativity.
Notes in brief:
• The Aurora Navy League gives itself a treat with a picnic every year. This year it was set for Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the home of Sharon and Kent Catich in North Aurora. He could be seen in Aurora wearing a distinctive train engineer’s hat/cap. He is an engineer.
• Labor Day will be here before we know it. Monday, Sept. 5 in Naperville there will be salute by the Naperville Jaycees for the Gold Medal won at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. Naperville athletes competed in the flag football tournament. Three athletes in special honors will include Ryan “Gronk” Gronkowski, Louis Pisani, and Peter Silagi. They are high school graduates of Neuqua Valley, Naperville North, and Waubonsie Valley. Attitude of gratitude.
• There is little consistency these days in society. A mild recession is here, inflation persists, workers leaving their jobs builds, yet, income levels for many in the country continues to surge. There is no one word for our country today. Likely the words should be persistence, gratitude, optimism. They all help.
