Halloween lurks around the corner, when little ghosts and werewolves will be on the prowl for treats, and Batavia residents might be looking for healthier goodies to share.

The Batavia Public Library is offering a sugar-free choice to hand out to trick-or-treaters this year. This Halloween, you can give the treat of reading and exploration with All Hallows’ Read coupons.

These coupons are good for a free children’s book, Young Adult book or paperback book at the Batavia Public Library.

Coupons are sold in sheets of 10 for $2.50 per sheet, with proceeds going to the nonprofit Friends of the Batavia Public Library. The Friends are dedicated to helping and improving the Library, and to enriching the opportunities available to our community. It’s a treat you can feel good about doling out, by giving back to the community, not just from a high-fructose corn syrup or red dye standpoint.

All Hallows’ Readcoupons make great Halloween treats, either on their own or as an addition to traditional goodies. Just take them apart so one may be placed in each little trick-or-treat bag.

All Hallows’ Read coupons will be sold through October 31 at the Library’s check out desk; and during BatFest Stories and Parade Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Library.

BatFest Stories will be 11:30 a.m. to noon October 29 at the Library. More can be learned about BatFest Stories on our website in the events calendar at batavia.libnet.info/event/7236610.

Coupons may be redeemed during a monthly Friends’ Book Sale in the FriendSpace, or at the Check Out Desk after selecting a book from the Friends Book Corner on the upper level across from the check out desk.

The Batavia Public Library is one of the oldest public libraries in the Fox Valley, tracing its beginnings to the 1860s when it was a library association. The Batavia Public Library District was formed in 1975. The mission of the Batavia Public Library is to provide and ensure access to materials and services to meet the lifelong learning needs of residents and organizations, as well as to create a welcoming place to gather, exchange ideas, and participate in cultural events.
