The Aurora City Council approved a West Aurora Plaza update Tuesday which is set to improve the aesthetics by adding a 10-foot bike path along the front of the property. The plan includes moving the McDonald’s Restaurant, from the back of the development closer to Galena Boulevard and removing the Walmart sign.
Approved was a proposal for a parking garage at Aurora University which would have either three or four levels, depending on budget, and would add between 360 and 500 spaces to an existing 1,000 spaces. The proposed parking deck could be completed by the beginning of the 2019 school year.
Approved was an ordinance that would give preference for City contracts to Aurora area bidders. The City is seeking to create job opportunities for local businesses and stimulate economic development.
