If you have a budding business and want to propel it to the next level, Batavia MainStreet invites you to apply for one of the 10 12×12 Batavia Boardwalk Shops spaces available. The cluster of tiny shops is on the southeast corner of Wilson and River Streets in Batavia. Applications are open December 1 through January 31, 2023, and are available on the Batavia Mainstreet website, downtownbatavia.com/Batavia-boardwalk-vendor-info.

The Batavia Boardwalk Shops are designed to attract small businesses, create more retail shopping, and bring people into Downtown Batavia for both this unique destination and the rest of our downtown. The shops will be open from the end of May until the end of December 2023 for the fourth season with 10 distinctive new local businesses.

This program offers an opportunity to sell products and services of interest to patrons. Vendors in the shops will be exposed to traffic from the Batavia Farmers’ Market, neighboring retailers, and all other events held downtown. The Batavia MainStreet organization has created a program that helps educate and provide real-world examples for these startup businesses to succeed at the next level.

If history is any indication, many owners will learn that they can move on to a permanent location after the close of the season in late December 2023. Of the eight shops operating in 2020’s inaugural season, six moved on to permanent locations. Of 2021’s 10 shops, six have opened locations and are succeeding in business. Two of the current 2022 shops have all ready signed leases for their future homes.

With only 10 12×12 shops available and a large, expected number of applications in 2023, it is recommended that interested prospective retail business owners apply in a timely manner.

Batavia MainStreet is accepting applications which are available on downtownbatavia.com. Please make sure to read all vendor information for required hours, vendor fees, and other important information.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023.
