It was another record-setting weekend in Aurora as viewers from near and far flocked to the Aurora Festival of Lights Drive-Thru.

Just over 5,000 vehicles passed through the popular light show last weekend, a thousand more than last week’s opening weekend.

Approximately 15,000 onlookers traveled from near and far, coming from Aurora, Chicago, and the western suburbs, as far west as DeKalb, and as far east as Gary, Ind..

Visitors were delighted to travel through the one-mile light show that features a closed-circuit radio station with Christmas music and more than 100 dazzling displays.

The Aurora Festival of Lights attendance is completely free, but volunteers accept donations at the end of the route. All donations benefit Aurora youth programs and non-profit organizations.

Opening every night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Festival will run through Christmas night, December 25, at Phillips Park, 1000 Ray Moses Drive.

Visitors must register for free vehicle passes at www.aurora-il.org/FestivalofLights.

Traffic is lighter during the weekdays.
