You know the routine, so get with it, right now.
I don’t want to hear that you do not know how.
Okay, now I get it—that gives me a kick—
You know with this group you are not the top pick.
Where you’ve been before, you were always top dog,
And now you’re afraid you won’t have that to log.
So let me say this—we don’t care who you are,
You aren’t in this group now because you’re a star.
We want you to do what you know to do here;
But plaudits are out, and we make that point clear.
In this group, you need to first gain their respect;
And what happens then will but surely infect.
You’re here for one reason—we chose you to be.
Your record’s on file, and that’s it, actually.
You know that you wanted this—now you must prove
That your being here is indeed a good move.
That star on your shoulder, if you haven’t guessed,
Is simply to show you are one of the best,
But understand this, where you now are, by name,
You’ll find there is no one above you to blame.
But also remember, whatever you do,
Is measured and graded by the men under you!
