By thunder, if’n yew take to glancin’
Yew jes might find me up to dancin’—
Cuz visitin’ with a friendly neighbor
Is whut Ah call life’s bestus labor,
‘N Ah cain’t wait tuh see it happin’,
‘N thet ain’t jes mah jaws a-flappin’!!
New neighbors should be askin’ ‘bout ya,
But keep ‘em askin’, they could doubt ya.
So best yew git yerself outside where
Yer neighbors kin at least decide fair.
Ta them new neighbors, best they know it,
The coffee’s always on—‘n show it!
My talking this way may turn off some,
And even cause a mite to scoff some,
But then, they’re likely to discover
Don’t judge the book just by its cover.
Whatever else, to you, I would say
A most sincere wish, “Have a good day!”
