The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley (DCFV) held its July monthly meeting Thursday, July 13, exactly nine months to the day, from the first official meeting, October 13, 2022.
The club has grown from 15 founding members to 47 dedicated individuals, who want to create an awareness of diabetes, provide aid and education for diabetics, along with investing in research, to find a cure. Our vision is to have a world free of diabetes.
The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley recently received a $1,000 donation from the Aurora Noon Lions Club for diabetes research. DCFV has matched its check, and Thursday, Aug. 10, will present a check for $2,000 to Peggy Hasenauer, executive director, UChicago Medicine-Kovler Diabetes Center, for diabetes research. Kovler’s diabetes research team, has made great strides in research towards finding a cure for diabetes.

DCFV will participate in several events throughout the Summer months in the Fox Valley area, reminding everyone to be aware of the dangers of unchecked diabetes. Everyone should take time to be checked yearly, to see if they are diabetic or pre-diabetic.
The members are looking forward to their “Kane County Cougars Diabetes Awareness Fundraiser” with fireworks, Saturday, Aug. 5, at Northwestern Medicine Field, Kirk Road, Geneva. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and first pitch will be at 6:30 p.m. for a fun-filled evening. Section 106 tickets are $15. per person. Contact Jenny McCain for tickets at 630-204-1197. The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that meets monthly on the second Thursday of each month at the historic Gray’s Mill Estate, 211 N River Street, Montgomery. Social/Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. with guests always welcome to attend!
