Dear editor;
Open letter to Aurora alderman, Carl Franco:
I am displeased that you voted through the resolution regarding peddling and soliciting over the wishes of your constituents Tuesday, Sept. 26.
You could have at the very least sent it back to committee for further review to make it better, yet you decided to circumvent public input. Shameful. That said, I will try to carve time out of my work day to attend as many committee meetings as I can to accommodate the undemocratic system as it currently exists.
Please provide an update on the Hello Fresh situation. Are you aware that the sound barrier reflects sound as opposed to absorbs sound, meaning that it was a complete waste of money? When will Hello Fresh have a sit-down meeting with the community? Can you please ask Hello Fresh to prepare offers for the homes immediately behind their plant?
And if they will not, can you please have the City government prepare offers?
Please provide an update on the “Borealis-in-Brief” mailer. How much did it cost? When will the mayor reimburse the city for it?
What do you know about the death of Annie Kpa? Why was she turned away from the homeless shelter earlier in the night? Why was she homeless in the first place? Please initiate an investigation into the root causes of her death. It is tragic and preventable and happened in your ward.
Thank you for your attention to these matters.
Best wishes,
David Cannon, Aurora
