‘Camino Island’ book topic in Plano

• Knit and Crochet Group, Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon.
This informal group works on its own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. Participants bring their own supplies. No registration required.
• Writers’ Group, Thursday, Aug. 9, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..
Writers can discuss their work in the Library Board Room. No registration required. Open to adults and high school students.
• New Life for Old Bags, Saturday, Aug. 11, 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Anyone can help turn plastic shopping bags into sleeping mats for the homeless. For more information contact Ceil Carey at jackandceil@att.net or 708-846-1704. No registration required.
Kids events
• Music & Movement, Wednesday, Aug. 6, 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., or, 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m..
Kids can listen to music and move to the beat. Kids will get to use simple musical instruments and play with a parachute. For children baby to five years old with a grown-up. Older siblings may wait in the Kids’ Library during the program. Call 630-552-2025 to register.
