The St. Charles Arts Council (SCAC) will hold the following programming for the rest of this year:
•Monthly Artist Coffee Talk events: Artists meet on the third Tuesday each month at 10 a.m. at the St. Charles Public Library. This event is open to all and not restricted to SCAC members Featured speakers and sharing information on on exhibit opportunities are always on the agenda.
•Paint the Riverside: Free event, Saturday, May 11 Help is needed to paint the intersection of Riverside and Walnut Avenues in downtown St. Charles. Paint and supplies will be provided and all ages are encouraged to join the fun! This event is sponsored by Forever Yogurt, the St. Charles Hardware, and EarthPaint.
•Paint the Town in a Banner Way: 100 2’x 6′ banners are available for painting to contribute to this community art exhibit. For only $25. per person, banners and paint will be available for pick up June 12 and must be returned by July 12. Banners will be displayed on fencing surrounding the skate park and tennis courts in Mt. St. Mary Park. This event is sponsored by the City government of St. Charles and the St. Charles Parks District.
•Plein Air – St. Charles: Mark your calendars for the week of August 19 – 25 for a week of art and artists! Forty Plein Air painters – artists who will be painting outdoors – will be in St. Charles creating artwork that will be for sale August 24 and 25. Events throughout the week will include a plein air artist demonstration by Steve Puttrich, a “Quick Paint” competition open to the public, creativity stations at Mt. St. Mary Park highlighting the importance of art for mental health, creative writings by the St. Charles Writers Group, and an opportunity for the public to interact with artists as they paint in beautiful St. Charles. This event is sponsored by artist Lathoriel Badenhausen, Ken and Sharon Celic, Hewell-Fischer Plastic Surgery, Bill Bergeson and Growing Awareness Counseling.
•FreshPaint Party: Saturday, Aug. 24, the SCAC will hold a ticketed event at the Baker Community Center for a first look and first chance to purchase paintings created during the Plein Air – St. Charles event. Awards will be announced and the public will have an opportunity to meet and greet with participating artists. Music will be provided and food from The Graceful Ordinary is included.
•Plein Air Paintings open to the Public: Sunday, Aug. 25, come to the Baker Community Center to view paintings from the week long Plein Air event. Artwork will be available for purchase. Enjoy food from Fernando’s Street Kitchen, Wafadilla, as well as live music!
•Members Only Art Exhibit: SCAC artist members will have their artwork on display during September and October at the St. Charles Public Library. A public artist reception will be held.
•Art Heist – Murder Mystery: October 5: Returning for a second year, this fun fundraiser event engages our audience in trying to figure out “who dunnit!”. A piece of local art has been stolen, and then a murder! This unique event is written and coordinated by Kim LeClair.
•The Art of the Dessert: Monday, Nov. 25 is the date to join us for this sweet event! Host is The Graceful Ordinary. More than 40 desserts created by professional bakers as well as home bakers will be available for auction. These tickets sell out, so put the date on your calendar!
