Friday, Aug. 2, our members were in Downtown Aurora at First Friday’s, “Stolp Island Block Party” from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.. The event started off a little slow due to strong winds and possible pop-up thunderstorms, however, once the winds died down and the storm threat disappeared, the Island became a bee-hive of activity. Stolp Avenue filled up with participants of all ages, enjoying music by the LeGrande Band, along with all the tasty food, while looking over the displays. Our Club’s tent had plenty of activity and we discussed diabetes, prediabetes, and healthy eating with quite a few interested individuals. The small children who stopped with their parents were given our Club’s bright, red, Frisbees!

Members volunteering at the “Stolp Island Block Party” were Marilyn George, Russ George, Pat Jones, Kim King, Ann McBride, and Chuck Nelson.

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley, thanks the City of Aurora government and their staff members, Tina de Chaud, Mike Nelson and Arella Swan, for all their assistance.
