This week, we’re starting from E. New York Street and Broadway, going South.

About the third building, on the Westside was the Paradise Inn.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Aurora, owned by the Park family.

Moving south, on the south westside of Galena Boulevard (Main Street) was Walgreens.

Down the Street on the westside, was Woolworths and Kresge’s.

In the next block, on the south east corner, of Downer and Broadway was The Mug Tavern, which burned down in the late 1970s.

At the Northwest corner of Benton Street and Broadway was Home Savings and Loan, then later Champion Federal, before the City of Aurora converted it to the Chuck B. Nelson Development Services Center in 2020.

Moving south by Clark Street was the old Burlington Northern Train Station, on the westside.

Moving south to North Avenue, on the westside was a Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Behind that building, going to the railroad tracks was a quarry in the early 1900s.

The second building south of North Avenue, on the westside, was Sollingberger’s Grocery Store.

Curtis Sollinberger owned it.

Moving south to Hazel Avenue, was several restaurants throughout the years, with now La Quebrada, being there.

Thank-you, see you next week.
