Dear editor;
As I watched the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, my thoughts for most of the evening was she dominated him. Harris was very prepared and scripted all night. She was not the gift that just keeps on giving when she speaks without the teleprompter as we all have heard over the past 3 ½ years.
Harris obviously got under Trump’s skin and seemed to keep him off track most of the night. While watching her, I thought to myself, this is just a continuation of the Democratic Convention love fest where she was able to read pretty well from a teleprompter. I think all of us Republicans, Independents, and Democrats were expecting a fight over the many issues before us. We got the same two issues from Harris which were, lie about Trump and abortion. Harris has no facts to argue her positions, just that annoying laugh. I guess in my mind she won the perception of winning a debate, but not sure if she did.
Let’s talk about the debate. Trump had a troll of things in his debate bag but as far as I’m concerned, he used them badly. That concerns me because he had a captive audience of Independents and Democrats which he may not get again. Harris will not help him out.
This is a rerun of Biden. Harris has avoided any press since Biden was told he will not be running except for two short softball interviews where she was not asked to explain what she just said. You know, what did she say? Heck, even James Clyburn of South Carolina stated on CNN after the debate for her to stay away from the media. If Trump had just stuck to the main issues that most care about, it would have been a no brainer.
Let’s talk about specifics during the debate. Her first question from moderator David Muir, not a quote, was are people better off today than they were four years ago? Harris started off by saying, I’ll get to that, but first let me say, from what she must have memorized, when I was a little girl growing up and rambled on and never answered the question. He never asked her to answer the critical question which I believe most of the audience wanted to hear. I’ll talk about the moderators later.
Harris was asked about her stance on fracking for oil. Harris stated, not a quote, I’m not against fracking along with other energy sources. That’s a lie based on all of the video footage of her over several years stating just the opposite, I would definitely ban fracking.
Harris was asked about the border. Harris stated there was a by-partisan bill that would have hired 1,500 more boarder agents and help the over worked personnel process the border crossings, but Trump told them to not pass the bill to help him. This was a missed opportunity for Trump. What Trump should of said, it was a bad bill. We don’t need 1,500 more agents to process illegal’s, just tell the one’s we have to close the border and shut it down! No need to say more. We all heard on National TV from Biden that he appointed Harris the Border Guard. She did nothing including going to the Border! I don’t care who you are, If you truly believe that the Democrats will close the border after 3 ½ years and more than 11 million crossings, I’d like to make a suggestion. Please allow me to take over your finances and I’ll make you very rich.
Remember when Trump mentioned crime was through the roof and was shut down by David Muir who stated according to FBI, violent crime was down? A lie or at the least, deceptive! Check out yourself. Type in “According to National Crime Victimization Survey is crime up”. Rape, Robbery and Aggravated Assault 5.6 per 1000 in 2020 to 8.1per 1000 in 2023. Trump backed up by data.
Remember Harris stating their producing more oil than ever. That’s a lie. Harris producing 2.1 million barrels a day and under Trump he produced 4 million barrels a day, hence Energy Independence. Common sense would tell you that gas prices would be much lower if she was producing more oil! Every product is touched by a truck, figure it out.
Remember Harris stating Trump wants to put in place a Federal ban on abortion. That’s a lie. He has always stated it should be left up to the States. The Democrats have tried to tie him to the Supreme Court ruling on reversing Roe v Wade just because he appointed more Justices. There’s no way that a Federal ban on abortion could happen with the divide that we have.
Harris stated Trump would put a 20% tax on all goods, that’s a lie. Who has made everything much more expensive, such as gas, food and housing, Trump or Harris? Harris said her plan was better than Trump’s plan and stated names that agreed with her including Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein. On CNBC Blankfein down played Harris remarks about her plan vs. Trump plan. Trump was fact checked they say five times, Harris zero. Days after the debate, Harris was fact checked with over a dozen lies.
Let’s talk about those two moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis. In my mind and others they failed the American public as to who Harris really is. Harris brought the pail of water and they carried it for her. They pressed Trump at every turn and never asked Harris to explain her-self. A Beacon News article dated 9/12/24 stated debate moderators curb Trump’s factual detours and “ABC emcees offer model for checking outrageous claims.” Maybe they could come up with a model for (Simple) fact checking?
Why do I think they failed other than seeing it with my own eyes? CNN legal analyst, Jake Taper stated on CNN that she dodged answering questions. The moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis were call out by other journalist not associated with Fox News. A Democrat, I can’t recall his name, stated they need an investigation into the debate. Even Bernie Sanders stated on CNN, not a quote, Harris hasn’t abandoned her values, she is saying what she needs to win the election. Wow! But the biggest proof is all of the Independents who stated on TV, they don’t know where she stands!
Facts: Workers take home 2% less with Biden/Harris vs. Trump! All battle ground states pay $12,000 more a year than they did under Trump!
Supposedly 68% of people think we’re heading in the wrong direction so you would think this election would be a no brainer for Trump, but there are a lot of Trump Haters who don’t like how he talks, just like me, but they don’t talk about his policies. I don’t know if the star power will help, but I do know she can’t do it on her own!
