The Chas here.
As I have observed in a previous essay, in those so-called “red states,” i.e. where Republicans control the executive and legislative branches of government, the Big Boys have been busy changing the rules of voting in order to put Donald Trump back into the White House. They do this because they don’t have a party platform worthy of the name.
What they have been doing is reducing the number of polling places and of ballot boxes, eliminating early voting and mail-in ballots, and banning “caravans” of would-be voters to the nearest polling place. The idea is to reduce the number of Democrats able to vote and to increase the number of Republicans able to vote.
They are, however, shooting themselves in their collective foot (to use a hoary old saying), because they have not paid attention to the ramifications of their shenanigans. Politics, as any astute person would attest, is a two-edged sword; what works for a given political party one time will work against it another time. Elections are not immune to this sword.
For example: rural America is predominantly Republican. If these Republicans cannot find a nearby polling place because of the Big Boys’ shenanigans, T. Rump loses. Another example: The military is predominantly Republican. If our service men and women cannot post mail-in ballots, T. Rump loses.
The Chas is laughing as he writes this commentary. Are you laughing also, dear reader?
P.S.: There must be some reason that Election Day is so close to Halloween, but I haven’t figured it out yet. Stay tuned.
